We (my traveling buddy Joel and I) decided to have a 24 hour long stopover in Iceland. It gave us the chance to explore a beautiful city, meet new people and begin to get a feel for the European lifestyle.
We arrived early in the morning and found out the sun doesn’t rise until around 11 a.m. during the winter months. After switching buses and losing the Google maps printout in the snowy streets, we found our Airbnb.
We explored the city, ate some delicious food and tried to fight off our jet lag.
The woman we were staying with told us to visit Hallgrimskirkja. It is a beautiful Lutheran church and can be seen from all around the city.
We took an elevator to the top of Hallgrimskirkja and got to enjoy this beautiful view!
I loved the colorful roofs on the houses, they make the dark and short winter days seem brighter.

This old little van made me smile, so of course I took many blurry photos of it!
We looked around a charming Icelandic bookstore. There was a cafe in the back and the atmosphere was very energetic.
There were many CD and vinyl album stores, at many of the shops you could hear EDM and popular music from the U.S.
Chuck Norris has his own grill here, complete with many jokes and sayings on the door.
This bike rack is made from an old bike!
